Norfolk League Division 3 - October 2024

22nd October 2024
East Anglia 4 vs Broadland 4
Final Result: East Anglia 4 – 13, Broadland 4 – 7

In a competitive and closely contested Division 3 clash, East Anglia 4 secured a home victory over Broadland 4 with a final score of 13–7. Despite some strong performances from Broadland, East Anglia's solid team effort proved decisive.
  • Alaistair Watts (East Anglia) fought through a five-game thriller against Joe Orpen (Broadland), ultimately prevailing 3–2. Watts sealed the win with a tight 16/14 in the fourth game before losing out in the fifth, 12/15.
  • Norfolk junior star Ava Fox (East Anglia) put in an impressive performance to beat Adam Warnes (Broadland) 3–1, including a well-earned 20/18 win in the second game.
  • On court 3, Michael Lake (East Anglia) lost 1–3 to Marco Valori (Broadland), while Amberly Mackenzie (East Anglia) demonstrated dominant play with a convincing 3–0 win over Henry Waller (Broadland), with quick attacks shortening the rallies.

Broadland 3 vs UEA 2 
Final Result: Broadland 3 – 16, UEA 2 – 1

Broadland 3 delivered a dominant performance at home against UEA 2, winning 16–1. The home side dropped just one game in the entire match, showcasing their strength across all positions.
  • Shaun Cramer (Broadland) was in excellent form, winning comfortably 3–0 against Oscar Roderick-Jones (UEA), while Justin Millar (Broadland) outlasted Ollie Ridgwell (UEA) in a four-game battle, winning 3–1.
  • Broadland continued their winning streak with Kevin Moore and Richard Hall, both securing 3–0 wins over their UEA counterparts.

 24th October 2024
Loddon 2 vs Wensum Sports Centre 2
Final Result: Loddon 2 – 3, Wensum Sports Centre 2 – 16

Wensum Sports Centre 2 came out on top in their away match at Loddon 2, securing a decisive 16–3 victory. Despite strong individual performances from Loddon, Wensum’s depth proved too much.
  • Joe Stewart (Loddon) and Ben Warminger (Loddon) both struggled against Chris Smith (Wensum) and James Smith (Wensum), with both Loddon players going down 3–0.
  • Wensum’s fast improving junior Finlay Mutti found his match in Rob Riley, who ultimately triumphed 3–1 in a tight encounter. Loddon’s Alex Widderington fell in another extended five-game thriller to Lewis Ames of Wensum, losing 2–3.

 29th October 2024
Wensum Sports Centre 2 vs Diss Heywood 4
Final Result: Wensum Sports Centre 2 – 6, Diss Heywood 4 – 11

Diss Heywood 4 claimed an 11–6 win over Wensum Sports Centre 2, with Bill Potter (Diss) leading the way with a 3–0 win over Chris Smith (Wensum).
  • Warwick Cooper (Wensum) scored a notable victory with a 3–1 win against Sean Taylor (Diss), while David Haughton and Sam Brown (Wensum) both fell to 3–0 defeats.
  • Diss rounded off the match with strong performances from Ryan Welsh and David Worrall, who both recorded comfortable 3–0 wins over Wensum’s lower order.

31st October 2024
Loddon 2 vs East Anglia 4
Final Result: Loddon 2 – 5, East Anglia 4 – 13

In the final match of the period, East Anglia 4 triumphed 13–5 over Loddon 2. Despite some spirited individual efforts from Loddon’s players, the visiting East Anglia team proved too strong overall.
  • Ben Warminger (Loddon) secured a 3–0 victory over Alaistair Watts (East Anglia), but the remaining Loddon players struggled. Dale Foreman (Loddon) fell, almost literally with his troublesome knee, in five games to Simon Elphick (East Anglia), while Kenny Biggin (Loddon) and Bev Brookes (Loddon) were both defeated in straight sets by Richard Donovan and Michael Lake, respectively.
