Exciting Team Clashes and Standout Performances Mark October's Matches! Division 1 of the Norfolk Squash League saw an intense month of team squash, with competitive matches, dramatic five-game thrillers, and decisive victories. Teams continue to fight for crucial points as the standings take shape heading into November. Match Results and Highlights 24 October 2024 Diss Heywood 2 (15) vs. Loddon 1 (3) Diss Heywood 2 delivered a commanding victory over Loddon 1, with standout performances from James Ramm and Simon Howling, both winning 3-0. The match between Rory Hannam and Ben Lawrence was a nail-biter, with Lawrence securing a 3-2 win after a tense fifth game (8-11). Diss Heywood secured 11 game wins and earned the 4-point bonus, resulting in a dominant 15-3 scoreline. Barnham Broom 1 (6) vs. East Anglia 2 (12) East Anglia 2 claimed an important away win with strong performances from Sam Jones and Chris Catchpole, who both secured 3-0 victories. Barnham Broom 1’s Paul Woods gave his team some momentum with a solid 3-0 win over Keane Pye. Despite winning two matches, Barnham Broom fell short on overall games (6-8), with East Anglia earning the bonus points for a 12-6 result. 29 October 2024 East Anglia 2 (6) vs. Waterlane 1 (13) Waterlane 1 triumphed in a competitive match with three wins in four. Jack Taylor and Ross Wilson impressed for Waterlane, each taking 3-1 victories in tight encounters. James Norris was a standout for East Anglia, winning 3-0 over Paul Field, but his efforts weren’t enough to secure the team win. Broadland 2 (16) vs. Barnham Broom 1 (3) Broadland 2 demonstrated their dominance with a clean sweep of victories across all positions. Steve Moxey led from the front, defeating Paul Woods 3-0 in a commanding display. The longest match came from Elliot Shilling, who overcame Howard Duff in a five-game battle, finishing 11-3 in the decider. Broadland’s 16-3 victory underscores their growing strength in the league.
